z-1
This application creates the normal 'fly front' zipper look as seen on men's pants

z-2
Slash and spread center front seam line so that is on the straight of grain.

z-3
Add a center front extension 2" out from center front seam line as shown.

z-4
'True' extension area of top cutting line by folding into place and trimming along the top edge.

z-5
Clip to mark at both the seam line and the original front cutting line.

z-6
It is a good idea to add some ody to the upper side (right side for women) by interfacing the extension with fusible interfacing.

z-7
Stitch from dot at bottom of fly front to within 2" from inseam.

z-8
Press right front back along front seam line.

z-9
Press left front back along original front cutting line.

z-10
Lay left front along left edge of coil and press.

z-12
Stitch close to fold with zip foot to left of needle.  Stitch from bottom to top of zipper - ALWAYS.

z-13
See placement of bottom of zip well below bottom dot to prevent hitting it with last stitching row.

z-14
Pin right front into place, matching clip of right front to clip of left front at the waist.

z-15
Flip right front over to the left so that you can stitch the extension to the coil as shown.

z-16
Mark stitching line on right front 1 1/2" from center front fold.  I love the Chakoner and 5-in-1 Sewing Gauge for this task.

z-17
Stitch along right front through everything, starting with a tie off stitch at the lower dot at center front AND leaving a long thread to begin stitching.

z-18
As you stitch, mindfully ease the fabric towards the needle and the 'north-east' to prevent diagonal drag lines on the fabric in the 'fly'.

z-19

Beauty of using a zipp;er longer than the opening is shown.  Be sure to pUll tab DOWN when finishing off the waist edge with facing or waistband.

z-20
See how far underneath the zipper is in this application method...

z-21
Pull thread at bottom of last stitching to the back, know and bury the threads to secure, then clip.
